Microsoft who Partners With Canonical to bring Ubuntu Linux feature in Windows 10 has finally allowed the Fast Ring Insiders to install and run Ubuntu Bash Shell in Windows 10.This was all possible because of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update Preview Build 14316

Few week’s back at Microsoft Build Conference 2016 Microsoft announced that they are going to bring many new features in the Windows 10 and it will be available to the user on the Windows’s 10 Anniversary Update.

During this Conference Microsoft was majorly concentrating on Ubuntu so that they are going to add it some of the features in Windows 10 and on some Productive tools but we are focusing on Ubuntu’s Bash Shell.About this announcement, Mark Shuttleworth, Canonical founder, said — “In our journey to bring free software to the widest possible audience, this is not a moment we could have predicted.”

After Giving his comment Microsoft finally launched Windows 10 Insider build for the Fast Ring channel in the form of version 14316.The Fast Ring g is the Insider channel that receives the first pre-release updated build of Windows 10.

So here are the step and guides how to install and run Ubuntu Bash Shell in Windows 10:

  1. Click on the Windows logo on your Windows 10 and go to settings,in setting find the update and security and click on it to open the Windows Update page.
  2. Now just somehow find the  Get Insider builds” Tab and in it find a SubTab “Choose how you get your Insider builds” and click on Slow to Fast.
  3. Now go to Windows Update and check for windows update and a prompt box will appear Download all the update and schedule a desired time for installation.
  4. Now you have to enable the Developer mode and Linux Subsystem in Windows 10,For enabling Developer mode in Windows 10, open Setting and click on Update & Security.
  5. Find “For Developers” option in left tab and select Developer Modein it.
  6. Now jump to the search bar and find features you may probably find “Turn Windows features on or off”and open it,you need to locate Windows “Subsystem for Linux (Beta)” and check the box to enable it.

  7. Just Relax back till the  feature is installed on your PC after this step done reboot your PC and proceed to next step.
  8. Now what we have to do is just download Ubuntu binaries and install them on your Windows10 PC.Just open a Command Prompt and proceed to the next step.
  9. After opening the CMD type bash and hit enter button the following result will be generated in the CMD:  – Beta feature – 
    This will install Ubuntu on Windows, distributed by Canonical and licensed under its terms available here:
    https://aka.ms/uowtermsType “y” to continue
  10. Press the “y” button and hit enter and in few minutesBash will be installed from  Windows Store.

Now the Bash Shell is install in your PC to run it just again open a CMD type Bash and hit enter,and u will be inside the Unix Bash shell.Enter up the following command to see the lsb_release current Ubuntu version installed in your System or For opening it you can use the software “Bash on Ubuntu on Windows 10” which is an desktop app.
