Why is Xiaomi Pocophone F1 true flagship killer?
When Xiaomi launched Pocophone F1 yesterday, not just customers, but smartphone makers were also taken aback by surprise. The robust specifications of a device coupled with its low starting price stunned everyone. Media has been calling it the “true flagship killer” of the smartphone market. But why is it the case, you may ask. After all, flagship killers have existed in past as well, then what is so special about this device from a Chinese company that justifies the ‘true’ adjective? Well, here we’re going to answer this question. Let’s get started:
How Pocophone F1 rules mid-range flagship segment
To get started, Xiaomi Pocophone F1 belongs to the mid-range flagship segment with its 21K INR (about 300 USD) price tag. And it rules that segment like a boss. Take following things into consideration:
- How many smartphones in its price range come with Snapdragon 845 Processor? NONE.
- How many of them come with liquid cooling technology? NONE.
- How many of them offer up to 256GB of internal storage and up to 8 gigs of RAM? NONE.
- And finally, how many of them offer 4,000 mAh battery? NONE.
In a nutshell, Pocophone F1 wins over its mid-range flagship peers by providing the highest value for money to customers. At this price point, it’s a package that’s unthinkable not just for customers but also for smartphone makers. The rug might certainly have been pulled off from under the feet of many smartphone makers yesterday.
And what about the high-end flagships?
We saw how and why Pocophone F1 rules among mid-range flagships. But when it comes to high-end flagship smartphones launched this year, the specifications are actually almost on par with each other. All of them come with Snapdragon 845 chipset, at least 6 gigabytes of RAM and displays larger than 6-inches. Internal storage capacities, cameras and battery capacities are also more or less the same. In fact, the high-end flagships are more powerful than Pocophone F1 in some important areas. For instance, Galaxy Note 9 launched recently by Samsung offers 1TB of maximum storage, which is double of maximum storage offered by Poco F1. Another example is OnePlus 6, which offers a better primary camera setup than Pocophone. Then what is the thing that separates Pocophone F1 from all of them and gives it an edge over others?
Well, it’s value for money, once again. When buyers can get everything that they need in a flagship at a price that is hundreds of dollars less than the price of other flagships, why would they even want to consider other flagships? Majority of flagship buyers don’t need the 1TB storage of Galaxy Note 9, or the fancy pop-up camera of Oppo Find X, or some other outlandish feature. Especially not if they need to shell out hundreds of bucks more for them. They’ll be very happy with $300 spent on a Pocophone F1 than $800+ dollars spent on a Galaxy Note or $500+ spent on a OnePlus 6. So, it’s almost clear that sales of all major smartphone makers are going to face the heat of this device in the coming days.
In short, Xiaomi Pocophone F1 is a true flagship killer because it hits both mid-range as well as high-end flagship segments. With its top of the line value for money offering it has the potential to destroy the sales of many other flagship smartphones launched (or set to be launched) this year. Rest we’ll come to know when this device becomes available in the global market.
Oppo Find X specification, release date & design concept
Oppo Find X specification, release date & design concept
Oppo has launched it’s Find X smartphone in Paris and made an official declaration that it’s their first global smartphone. Though there is a lot to say about the elegant phone, there are two things which stand out. First is it’s high-end slide out cameras and the other is the bezel-less screen. Oppo has sent out the invitations for their upcoming event in New Delhi in July. Oppo Find X is set to be launched in India on June 12. Oppo Find X is directly aimed at Samsung Galaxy S9+, Apple iPhone X, and Huawei P20 Pro. We’ve rounded up everything you need to know about this exciting new phone like price, specification, design concept and release date in India etc.
The new Oppo Find X smartphone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. It features a 6.42-inch display and 1080 x 2340 pixels screen resolution. It’s powered by an octa-core processor of 2.5 GHz which is paired with 8GB RAM. Oppo Find X is powered by 3730 mAh battery. The internal storage is 256 GB. Oppo Find X definitely attracts the selfies lovers with it’s 25 MP front shooter camera. It has a 16MP rear camera. It’s a dual SIM smartphone with GSM + CDMA both. It has got all the connectivity options like GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 4G. As far as sensors are concerned, there is a proximity sensor, light sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass. One thing to note is that there is no fingerprint sensor on this phone. Adreno 630 GPU assures that you have a seamless gaming experience. Oppo Find X primarily uses 3D facial scanning to unlock.
The design concept of Oppo Find X is super impressive. The all-screen design makes it really hard to ignore or overlook this phone. Moreover, it’s the first phone in the world to feature a screen to body ratio of almost 94%. In simple terms, it just means that there are no bezels on the three sides of the phone. Of course, there is a tiny chin at the base of its screen. Oppo deserves applause for skipping the controversial notch screen design which was set forth by Apple with their iPhone X. The notchless display in Oppo Find X is undoubtedly the best feature which makes it one of the coolest premium smartphones in the market today. Vivo Nex comes next with a screen to body ratio of 91%. Oppo Find X weighs about 186 grams and 156.70 x 74.30 x 9.40 are its measurements.
Oppo Find X is available in 2 color variants – Glacier Blue and Bordeaux Red. Both are looking gorgeous and premium! Oppo must be applauded for the innovation on Find X. There are 3 onboard cameras and all of them are invisible. The cameras just pop up when we open the camera app. Or else they remain hidden. The slide out motorized camera system moves back to the chassis of the phone when the camera app is closed. As per the claims of Oppo, it takes 0.5 seconds for the camera to pop out of the chassis.
Oppo is gearing up to launch their first global smartphone Oppo Find X in India on July 18, 2018. The tagline on the invitation goes like this – “Find what you have been looking for until now”. It’s bold and inviting at the same time. But the name of the new device is not mentioned on the invites. Oppo’s Indian Twitter account has been throwing hints about its arrival in India very soon. So, many gadget lovers believe that they are going to launch it in India on July 18, 2018. Find X is already launched in Chana and Oppo is all set to launch it in Europe and North America in August.
The expected price range of Oppo Find X is INR 75,000 – 80,000. It’s pretty expensive but it’s feature packed just like iPhone X and Galaxy S9+ etc. It’s a bit disappointing that the screen resolution is full HD and not QHD. Wireless charging, waterproofing are some other premium features which are missing in this smartphone. However, the design and the exciting features like slid cameras are definitely innovative and attractive. Keep visiting our blog as we are soon going to post a full-blown review on Oppo Find X.
Samsung Galaxy S9 Tips and Tricks
Samsung Galaxy S9 Tips and Tricks
Samsung’s newest offering, the Galaxy S9, is one of the highest powered and frankly best mobiles out there. But are you really getting all that you can out of the S9? The S9 is capable of doing tons of cool things, and we’re willing to bet that you don’t know everything it’s capable of. So allow us to let you in on some of the S9’s best secrets with our favorite tips and tricks.
More and more of us are using our phones as mobile computing options, and that means that multi-tasking is essential. Fortunately, in the S9 you’ve got a superb multi-tasking option in what Samsung is calling “pop up view.” Open an app, swipe diagonally from the corner of the screen into the center and the app you just opened will move to a small window in the corner of the screen, allowing you to open up something else. Just click on the smaller window to move between apps. Easy peasy.
If this doesn’t work for you, you probably have the option switched off. Head to Settings, hit Advanced Features, then Multi Window, then toggle on the option next to Pop Up.
If you’ve got a tablet then you know how convenient it is to have your home screen turn to landscape mode. But until recently if you were using your mobile in landscape mode (maybe watching Netflix) and backed out of your app to your home screen you were forced back into portrait mode. No more! The S9 now supports landscape desktop which will keep even your home screens in landscape mode if you’re holding your phone sideways.
In order to activate this go into Settings, hit Display, then Home Screen and make sure that Portrait Mode Only is toggled off. Simple.
Obviously, the S9 supports that awesome Samsung edge to edge display, but the S9 also makes good use of those edges. The edges of your screen can support menus, making stuff easier to find and your phone more intuitive to use. Plus, you can design those menus however you like.
Simply swipe from the right or left edge of your screen towards the center to open up “panels” then hit the settings button at the right corner. This will allow you to delete the default panels that you don’t want. Want more panels? Then hit the Download button to find out which options you can add. From newsfeeds to quick app access, those edge panels are pretty sweet.
Always On (or Not)
The S9 does feature an always on display, which you may or may not want to use. Head into Settings and then Lock Screen and scroll down to turn the always-on screen feature on or off. But you can customize always on through that menu too. You can decide what info is shown in always on (maybe the time, maybe waiting notifications, whatever you like), as well as customizing when the screen is allowed to be on and when not (perhaps turning it off when you’re sleeping).
Always on isn’t for everyone and as per some hands-on testing from Tiger Mobiles it can drain the battery. But if you want to know what’s up just by glancing at your phone rather than needing to wake it up, always on is a great option to have.
If you find yourself waiting too long for downloads then the S9 can help you out with its Download Booster. This allows you to combine WiFi and mobile data to get faster downloads and was first seen in Samsung’s Galaxy Alpha.
To enable this option go to Settings, then Connections, then More Connection Settings, and toggle the switch next to Download Booster on. Be aware that this WILL use your mobile data, so if you’re on a limited plan keep an eye on your data levels.
Only Got One Hand?
Today’s big screen mobiles are awesome for web surfing and watching videos, but using a large display phone with one hand can be tough. And let’s face it, we all use our mobiles one handed from time to time (whatever the reason…). Fortunately, the S9 makes one-handed use easy.
Head to Settings, then Advanced Features, then hit One Handed Mode. Once you’ve enabled this then when you tap the home button three times the active display will shrink down into one corner so you can easily use it with one hand. That definitely simplifies matters.
But there’s more. Go back into Settings and then Advanced Features and toggle on Finger Sensor Gestures and now you can pull down the notification bar by flicking over the fingerprint sensor (instead of having to reach all the way up to the top of the screen).

And So Much More…
There really are tons of special features on the S9. If you’re running a video on your home screen, pull out that edge panel and select “animation” and you can easily create a gif from your video. Head into Settings, Display, then Navigation Bar and you can turn on or off the on-screen navigation buttons, and customize them to be whatever you want them to be (and change icon colors too). Want to take a pic of the run? Just tap the power button twice and the camera will open automatically, even if your phone is asleep (if it doesn’t work go to Settings, Advanced Features, and toggle on Quick Launch Camera).
Love your tunes? Then head into Settings, Sound and Vibration Settings then Sound Quality and Effects and turn on Dolby Atmos sounds (you can also play around with sound quality there with the equalizer and other options). Often find yourself switching between two apps? Then pull out that edge panel select Pair Apps and whenever you open either of the apps both will open in split screen mode.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 is full of little tricks to make your life easier, and these are just some of our favorites. The best way to get to know your S9 is to head into that Settings menu and start playing around, we’re sure you’ll find something that surprises you!

So, LG is all set for launching its next smartphone of the G series after a massive success of G6. Though LG wasn’t unveiled it officially in MWC 2018 but we can hear some rumours about the next flagship from many of our sources. Also, we already heard a lot stories about its looks that LG has opted the metal body with thin glass and bezel-less display in their upcoming smartphone. There are a lot to talk about this flagship successor, let’s see, what LG is going to bring on the table for us.
LG G7: Name, Release Date and Price
It seems like LG is not going to launch the upcoming smartphone under the roof of G series. Some popular Technology media blogs say that LG is going to retire the G series in the first half of the year with a brand new flagship. That means that the upcoming smartphone is going to be the first smartphone in this series. LG is doing this maybe because LG’s smartphones sound bit outdated in comparison with the iPhone’s X and Samsung’s Galaxy S9. Though there is no official declaration about the upcoming beast, we are referring it as G7 in this article.
So, the question is When LG will introduce the G7? Unlike G5 and G6, LG hasn’t talked anything about the upcoming LG’s smartphone in the MWC 2018. Some release date rumours are saying that LG is going to launch LG G7 at the end of May or beginning of June and there is nothing too surprising at all. As we know that Giant has recently started redesigning the G7 from the scrap, it is possible that it won’t unveiled until May and hit the stores before June. Although there is no official info shared about the release date from LG, but it is possible that it won’t hit the market before May.
It doesn’t matter whenever the next flagship is going to land on the market; it won’t be cheap at all. As per some rumours and our expectations, LG G7 at least cost between the US $729 to the US $820. Yep, it is going to be very costly, but not as much as some other flagships including Samsung’s Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus, and Apple’s iPhone X.
LG G7: Specification and Features
It is expected that LG G7 will be featured with a 6-inch 18:9 full vision display which is a bit larger than the previous G6 (5.7 inches). It is apparently expected that LG will use an MLCD+ panel on the upcoming LG G7 which is the latest technology. Also, the display will come with corning gorilla glass 5, and this will be the first smartphone with the bezel-less display from LG.
LG G7 may boast with the octa-core Snapdragon 845 clocked at 2.8 GHz to give the maximum power they can do. Also, this upcoming beast will be power with at least of 6 GB of RAM. It will make sure that LG G7 is going to be one of the most influential smartphones of 2018 or at least be on par with its competitors.
Also, it is rumoured that LG G7 would come with 16+16 MP Dual rear cameras with Dual LED Flash and an 8 MP full HD front-facing camera for selfies. G7 may come with 64 GB Inbuilt storage for saving your files, and it will be expandable up to 256 GB.
As far as it is concerned that it will come with 3000 mAh battery which will be non-removable which is a sacrifice for making the device more thinner. Also, this smartphone will support fast charging 4.0 with a USB type C Port.
Also, the smartphone is rumoured to come with Stereo Speakers and an IP 68 rating for the protection against dust and water. Also many rumoured claimed that the G7 will come with an iris scanner along with a fingerprint scanner. It will not be the latest feature as many Samsung devices are already packed with it, but it will be the first time LG will adopt it. We also get some source saying that LG G7 will be 5G enabled for giving the super-fast downloading, but it won’t affect that much if the network doesn’t support it.
So, these were the rumours we came across about the latest G7 so far. If we hear something more about it, we will update it here in this article. Meanwhile, you can share your thoughts in the comment section below. Also, share it with more of your gadget lover friends.
