Apple iPhone XS review: Best iPhone in every aspect

Design and Display

Just like iPhone X, the new XS device catches the same dimensions but it got little heavier m- just 3 grams. Apple never leaves any area of complaining when it comes to design and build quality and that’s what you will feel when you get this device in your hands. It feels premium, solid and sturdy. Although, the camera ridge is a little bigger than that of iPhone X. The XS model is a comfortable fit in the hand.

You will not see headphone jack at the bottom but only lightning port and speaker grilles. Moreover, this time Apple has even shown the way out to the connecting adaptor- which used to connect 3.5mm jack headphone to your device. As per some reports, Apple has used strong glass “specially formulated” this time to keep the phone hard and solid. The phone is now IP68-rating that means it is water resistant and dust too. So, you can now listen to music in the shower. One thing you will surely like is that you can easily use the phone with wet fingers. In previous phones, it is seen that the screen doesn’t respond but this time, it isn’t the case.

Coming to the display, iPhone XS packs a 5.8 inches Super-Retina HD display with 2436 x 1125 pixel resolution at 458pi. The notch is just like what iPhone X got but the FaceID just got faster. The dynamic range of display got increased creating 60% to make the HDR -0 and Dolby Vision effects. Moreover, the screen houses 120Hz tracking technology which picks the touch input twice as fast.

Overall, there is no area of complaints in terms of design and build quality for Apple. In the display, you might find some jitters- one in a thousand times which is okay. So, Apple redefines it’s strong and solid built with both design and display.

Under the hood, Apple iPhone XS has an A12 Bionic Chip with Next-generation Neural Engine. The device comes with three onboard storage variants- the 64 GB one, the 256GB one, and the 512GB one. Like every time, this time too you can not expand the storage using SD card. Running on 7nm chipset, it is the most powerful smartphone. The new Neural Engine is for the device’s intelligence- allowing a device to recognize things in the phone or on the screen.

In Geekbench testing, the device reached the score of 11,481 which is 1,000 higher than the iPhone X.You will feel no hiccups or lags while using the phone, it is butter smooth and responsive- lightning fast.

In terms of gaming, the device performs exceptionally well too – all thanks to the new A12 Bionic chip. You will get a near to console-like performance and gaming experience which means games like PUBG and Asphalt 9 won’t even give a single lag during the whole session.

Cameras and Battery Life

Coming to the camera, iPhone XS houses vertical dual rear camera setup including a 12-megapixel (f/1.8, 1.4-micron) primary camera and a 12-megapixel (f/2.4) secondary camera. For selfies, it has a 7-megapixel front shooter. The camera performs exceptionally well detailing and sharpness and colors and what not. Both in daylight and low lighting situation, it just performed bang on. While the front camera gives a clay mode like selfies- plasticize it a bit but still, the detailing and aesthetics are really good.

As per Apple, the battery of iPhone XS lasts 30 minutes longer than iPhone X. The exact figures were not revealed by the company. The phone supports fast charging too but the device doesn’t come along with one. The device comes with a 5W charger- old Apple strategy. Although, the device can fuel up to 50% in just 30 minutes with 18W charger. It also supports wireless charging with Qi chargers.

Other Features

The Apple’s iPhone XS runs on the latest iOS 12 out of the box. Face ID and Siri got the updates too. Face ID gets smarter with TrueDepth camera for facial recognization while Siri got some major updates too- means more intelligent than before. Undoubtedly, iPhone XS is the best iPhone created by the brand. It is well built, looks premium, lightning fast and bigger battery size as compared to previous models. The device is just an upgraded version of iPhone X- nothing new just internal improvements. Now that, iPhone X is off the market, iPhone XS seems to be “THE” phone. The only factor it disappoints us is the sky touching price. Priced around one lakh figure, it is really hard to go to such a huge amount and pay for it. But, in case you are up for it, honestly, the phone is really brutal in performance and is the best in the market without any doubt. Apple phones never get old- this is the beauty of Apple products. So, if you are thinking for long term usage, choose Apple XS without thinking twice. Otherwise, you can get other options in Android like Google Pixel 3 and Samsung Note 9 at lower prices than this one.
